Sports Day 15th July 2021

Reception World Music Day!
21st June 2021

We had such an amazing and musical day! Our theme was 'Nursery Rhymes' so we sang, danced and used instruments to create a tempo to all the ones we knew and learnt some new ones!

We explored the instruments, completed nursery rhyme number challenges, read books, practised our handwriting and did LIVE Yoga with Key Stage 1. We performed '5 little ducks' to the rest of the school during our virtual assembly too. What an exciting day!

Reception Fruit Tasting - W/C 26th April 2021

We have read the story of 'Handa's Surprise'! She lives in Africa takes a basket of fruit to her friend in the next village. Mrs Whiteside bought some of the fruits for us to try in school as part of our Literacy work! We tried mango, pineapple, avocado and passion fruit.

Science Week W/C 19th April 2021

We have had a very busy week in Reception during Science Week!
We have been exploring what camouflage means and how this might look in animals in the safari. We decorated some crocodiles with Mrs Whiteside, some of us chose camouflague colours like green and brown to help them hide in the swamps. Some of us chose brighter colours! Then Mrs Whiteside hid them in our garden to see which ones we would spot first!

We also found some really interesting clips on YouTube where we had to look really closely to find the hidden animals!

Mrs Gibbins taught the children to colour pieces of string (caterpillars) using our camouflage knowledge. The children searched for caterpillars in the garden.

We found more orange caterpillars and fewer blue and black caterpillars.

At first the children were unsure why. We discussed how we wore yellow high visibility jackets on our train journey to keep us safe.

"We can see the orange ones more easily"

"Some are tricky to spot but some are easy if they are bright!"

"Bright orange can't be camouflaged!"

What a fantastic week!

Reception Train Day 1st April 2021

In Reception we have had a special day today!

We have been learning all about train journeys, drawing trains, making tickets, cooking spring rolls for our journey, making treasure maps for an egg hunt and we even got to find the eggs too!

We turned our classroom into a train and ate our spring rolls; they were so tasty!

What a busy and exciting day!

Take a look at our photos to see how much fun we have had!
