Curriculum intent:

The curriculum at Northlands is bespoke to the needs of the community we serve. We aim to equip all children with the strong literacy and numeracy skills that they need to succeed in life and particularly to support the growing portion of children who speak English as an additional language. We are also passionate about the wider curriculum and ensuring that our children have access to exciting and inspiring lessons in the other key areas that we teach. Indeed we are lucky to have enthusiastic expert subject leaders in all of the key areas so that we can truly provide a broad and balanced curriculum. At Northlands we not only seek to deliver the requirements of the primary National Curriculum but we also seek to go beyond the basic requirements and inspire children and embed a life-long love of learning: hopefully our class blogs reflect this! Finally, we support the children in their spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning journey which aids them to become successful citizens who can contribute positively to society and life in Britain.

All class teachers are responsible for providing a curriculum that is suitable for all pupils in the class, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) with support from the SENCo. We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
