Prospectus

We value the contribution our parents and carers make to the education of their child. Therefore we aim to ensure that all parents feel informed and well prepared at the start of every academic year.

Our Annual Parent Pack aims to ensure our families can get ready for the year ahead and review any key policies and/or guidance.

Every year we offer and invite new parents and children from Early Years (Reception) to meet our Head Teacher and Early Years Team, tour of the school, discuss the curriculum your children will follow and an opportunity to ask any questions.

We feel grateful to be in a position to continue to celebrate with our children why we are so proud to be part of the Northlands community. Our intention is to both prepare pupils for secondary school, as well as ensure Northlands’ pupils are recognisable and smart.

Response:

Ties – safety and comfort.

Ties will now all be clip on for safety reasons. Where pupils are carrying out activities that may mean they would experience discomfort by wearing a tie, school will act accordingly. E.g. a ‘heat wave’ may mean that pupils are asked not to wear a tie, in the same way we occasionally allow untucked shirts in hot weather.

Shorts permitted?

Black or grey shorts are permitted.

Jumpers without logo permitted?

Now not permitted. No other items of uniform are expected to have a logo but school jumpers with a logo are expected. Previous school jumpers (£9.00) and polo shirts (£5.50) with logo were available so although school has increased expectations with regards our new jumper, we have balanced that in terms of all other items.

Summer option for boys?

Girls are permitted to wear summer dresses when weather permits. We do wish to provide an option for boys. All suggestions welcome.

Lunchtimes

At lunch time your child can choose to have a school hot dinner or a packed lunch from home.  Our school uses Educaters as our school meal provider and has a delightful menu with lots of variety.  If your child has any food allergies please do let us know. Menus can be found on the school website or collected from the main school office.

From September 2014, the government has been offering every infant child in a Reception Class to Year 2 Universal Infant free school meals, therefore if your child is in these year groups their is no cost to yourself.

If your child requires a school hot dinner in Years 3, 4, 5 or 6 then the cost is £2.35 per day.  Parents should make payment for the week each Monday using our online payment system SIMS Pay.
